Re: Gang Plate Nailed Roof Trusses 1970-1997

An advisory note has been issued by Planning SA Dec.2006

Re: roof trusses and buildings at risk constructed in the period

1970-1997 with prefabricated timber trusses

Clear span buildings with large open spaces

The roof covering is tiles

The notice clearly indicates sagging of ceilings along a straight line as a potential failure

Movement of cornice at wall junction and or dimpling of the ceiling in the vicinity

All members are advised not to effect any repairs before a CouncilBuilding Surveyor has inspected the roof structure and remedial work on the trusses completed and signed off by an appropriate authority.
