Key Changes to OH&S management from July 1^st 2008

1/ Mandating of industry induction

From July 1st most states will require builders to ensure all building & construction work contractors; sub-contractors and employees including apprentices must have a valid construction induction card (irrespective of colour) in order to enter a building site.

2/ Site Specific Training

From July 1^st, builders will be required to ensure that persons performing construction work are provided with site specific training including emergency procedures of that particular site.

3/Safe Work Method Statements (previous JSA’s)

From July 1^st, Job Safety Analysis are applicable for nineteen high risk construction activities.

The new term to be applied is Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)

4/OH&S Coordination Plans

From July 1^st Principal contractors will be required to produce an OH&S Coordination plan for any project exceeding the value of $250,000.00.

The document must be produced prior to work commencing on site and must be updated and remain accurate during the course of the project.
